About Hialeah

Hialeah is a city in northwest Miami-Dade, west-northwest of Miami, and the sixth-largest city in Florida. Miami Lakes, Hialeah Gardens, Medley, Miami Springs and Opa-locka surround it, and it is one of the few places in the county with its own numbered street grid, which is why addresses read like W 16th Avenue or E 26th Street. Its Hialeah Park race track opened in 1925.

Renting in Hialeah means a mid-rise or garden-style community, many finished since 2022, with pools, playgrounds and dog parks. The Upland on Hialeah Drive puts eight-story buildings over shops and a food hall, Manor Hialeah is a large community with a basketball court and a cinema room, and Metro Parc, opened in 2025, has a 24-hour concierge and says Metrorail is about five minutes away. The city has Metrorail stations at Okeechobee and Hialeah and a Tri-Rail/Metrorail transfer station. County tax records flag most of these buildings as partly income-restricted, though their websites rarely say so, so ask which units have income limits.

Hialeah suits renters who want a newer apartment in northwest Miami-Dade without paying core-tower prices, and commuters who use Metrorail, I-75, the Palmetto Expressway or Okeechobee Road. Many of its buildings have playgrounds or play areas. See also Doral and Miami Gardens, and check the numbers with What can I afford?
