About Lake Worth Beach

Lake Worth Beach is a city in east-central Palm Beach County, south of West Palm Beach and about 63 miles north of Miami. It is named after the Lake Worth Lagoon and changed its name from Lake Worth in 2019. Downtown runs along Lake Avenue and Lucerne Avenue, with art galleries, the city has six historic districts, and the Street Painting Festival draws about 100,000 people. Across the lagoon, the Robert A. Harris Bridge leads to the city's own beach, with a municipal pier and a casino building modeled on the 1920s original.

Renting here mixes downtown buildings with workforce units and a lakeside community just outside the city. The Bohemian, downtown on East Coast Street, has pickleball and a co-working space with a coffee bar, and both it and The MID, on North Dixie Highway, offer workforce-housing units alongside market-rate ones, so ask about income limits. Elan Palm Reserve is in the unincorporated area west of the city that shares the Lake Worth postal address, with paved trails around a central lake. Tri-Rail stops at Lake Worth Beach station, and Palm Tran buses serve the city.

Lake Worth Beach suits renters who want a small, artsy downtown, a public beach and Tri-Rail, and households who qualify for workforce units. Compare it with West Palm Beach to the north, Boynton Beach and Wellington.
